안녕, 내 오랜 친구인 어둠이여
너와 다시 얘기하고 싶어 왔어.
왜냐면 어떤 환상이 부드럽게 슬그머니 왔다갔거든 
내가 자고 있는 사이 자기 씨를 뿌리고 갔거든
그리고 내 머릿속에 심어진 그 환상은
여전히 침묵의 소리로 남아 있어

불안한 꿈속에서 자갈이 깔린 좁은 길을 난 홀로 걸었지
가로등 불빛 아래서 난 추위와 습기를 막으려
옷깃을 올려 세웠어
그 때 반짝이는 네온 불빛에 내 눈을 찔렀고
그 불빛은 밤을 가르며 침묵의 소리를 어루만졌지

그리고 적나라한 불빛 속에서도 난 보았지
어쩌면 만 명보다 많은 사람들이
말하지 않고 대화하고
듣지 않고 듣고 있고
공감할 수 없는 노래를 쓰지
아무도 감히 침묵의 소리를 깨뜨리지 못했지

바보들아! 하고 말했어
침묵은 암이 자라는 것과 같다는 것을 이제야 알겠지 라고
당신들을 깨우쳐줄 내 말을 들어
당신에게 뻗을 내 팔을 잡아
하지만 내 말은 소리 없이 떨어지는 빗방울처럼
그리고 침묵의 샘 안에 메아리와 같네
